Avalokiteshvara (The Sand Mandala of Compassion), High Meadow School, Stone Ridge, NY, March 2023
Over the past two decades, I have brought the Tibetan monk, Lama Tenzin Yignyen, to schools and community centers throughout New York City, Long Island and the Hudson Valley. Through the process of creating and then dismantling the Sand Mandala of Compassion, Lama Tenzin teaches about impermanence, interconnectedness and sustainability.

In the early 2010's Lama Tenzin's teachings
inspired me to create the Urban Mandala Curriculum (shown below). Urban River Arts, non-profit art organization I founded in 2009, partnered with museums, schools and cultural organizations all over New York City, and engaged people of all ages from diverse backgrounds to assemble and dismantle large-scale, interactive mandala-like installations made out of recycled & natural materials.
