HeART with Kimberly, Kerhonkson, NY 2020 – 2022
HeART with Kimberly, an art school based out of my home studio, offered outdoor after-school and weekend art classes to children, teens and adults during the pandemic and provided people a much-needed ,creative outlet and sense of community. Responsibilities included: overseeing daily operations, registration, fee collection & book-keeping; writing communications for website, social media and advertising; providing clear safety protocols for gathering people together in compliance with New York state health protocols during the height of COVID-19; developing curriculum and teaching art classes.

HMS Administrator July 2022 – Present
- Arts Coordinator of music, dance, drama, visual art & PE for grades nursery 3 through eighth. Oversee hiring, run department meetings, edit Arts & Rec student reports, coach teachers in report writing, communicate with parents, co-produce dance, music & drama performances & art exhibitions, and co-create 2023–24 schedule of classes, performances and fundraisers.
- Meadow MoCA (HMS Museum of Contemporary Art) Co-founder, Teacher, Producer & Committee Member a yearly, week-long celebration of the arts culminating in an auction of student artwork, which serves as a primary fundraiser for the school. The visual arts curriculum introduces students from nursery 3’s through eighth grades to entrepreneurship and philanthropy by deepening students’ understanding of the impact their own creativity can make towards positive change in the world. Student work is exhibited at Market Street Studio, in Ellenville, NY.
- Work with children in each grade to create collaborative artworks to be sold at the auction
- Teach children the joy of generosity by giving them financial responsibility and freedom to choose how the money they earn from the sale of their artwork will be spent. This year students directed 75% of their revenue to support HMS scholarships and the visiting artist fund. 25% of proceeds were donated to five local community non-profits with which HMS has growing relationships.
- Develop interactive and collaborative school-wide art projects such as weaving and action painting and scheduling the whole school’s participation.
- Install the art exhibition for the auction: framing, curating, hanging, pricing, writing titles & descriptions, deinstalling, packing sold artwork.
- Direct marketing for the event and gallery sitting.
- Afterschool Enrichment Re-envisioned and implemented programming from scratch after the pandemic for Aftercare & Afterschool Classes. Oversee hiring and management of a dozen staff members, co-create curriculum, write class descriptions for website & social media, manage budget, registration and substitutes, communicate with parents, and provide snacks
- Seventh & Eighth Grade Elective Facilitator Oversee hiring and management of eight staff members, facilitate choice and voice for students to create classes based on interest, facilitate academic and emotional support for students, communicate with parents.
- Professional Development Plan and teach 10 workshops for HMS faculty in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, inquiry-based learning, responsive classroom and sequencing painting throughout the school year.
- Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee Member (DEIJ) Write and edit new DEIJ mission statement; co-create and implement DEIJ professional development workshops for faculty.
- Develop and write scope and sequence for visual arts for nursery through eighth grades.
- Teach drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, ceramic sculpture, sewing, cardboard construction, beading and found-object sculpture. Pedagogy includes: exploration of art materials; introduction to historical artists, artworks & movements; how to see and talk about works of art.
- Develop curriculum and teach Community Connections, providing visual art classes to caregivers and children ages one to three years old.
- Uphold academic and behavioral standards.

- Organize special programming: In March of 2023 Tibetan monk, Lama Tenzin Yignyen, made Avalokiteshvara, the sand mandala of compassion over five days, at which time the sand was offered back to the earth in a dismantling ceremony, which symbolized impermanence and sustainability.
- Implemented all aspects of teaching through the pandemic including: online teaching, exhibiting student work online, teaching in person with limited resources, writing student assessments, supporting parents & caregivers.
- Created a support system for 18 students in all aspects of academic and social life during the pandemic for remote and in-person classes.

Urban River Arts (URA) was a community-based, non-profit organization devoted to the artistic, emotional and social development of children and adults, according to each person’s needs and creativity. Responsibilities included:
- Founding: Developed a business plan and wrote mission and bylaws; recruited and established a board of directors, filed articles of incorporation; applied for federal tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) and filed for state recognition of tax exemption; fundraising; initial opening school/gallery.
- Executive Directorship: Recruited participants, oversaw daily operations in compliance with NYC rules and regulations; networked with local arts organizations; wrote communications for websites, social media and advertising; wrote grants.
- Curriculum Development: Held ongoing open studio after school & weekend art classes; Sequencing Painting workshops; and developed the Urban Mandala Curriculum that invites participants of all ages to create and then dismantle large-scale mandala-like installations made from found and recycled materials both natural and manufactured. The life of each installation underscores the nature of impermanence and sustainability.
