I believe the most powerful tool I have as an art administrator, art educator and artist is my own humanity-that takes flight when the energy of my heart and the energy of my mind are equally balanced. The current global landscape of racial, cultural, socio-economic and environmental tensions can be overwhelming at times. Making, seeing and talking about works of art continually challenges me to open my heart and mind, and helps me better understand how to relate to the world. For me, inherent within the artistic process lies hope. Creative expression and intellectual curiosity, tempered with discipline and mastering skills are the foundation of my studio, teaching and administrative practices, and continue to guide my career.
